Trust & Safety

Stay safe on Scout

Scout connects real people — and like any marketplace, a little care goes a long way. Here's how to protect yourself and get the most out of every interaction.

Keep your agreement on Scout

Agree on the scope, price, and timeline here in the chat before any work begins. A written record protects both parties if there's ever a disagreement later.

Never pay upfront to someone you haven't verified

Legitimate providers won't pressure you to pay in full before seeing any work. Agree on a deposit amount that feels fair, and pay the balance only when you're satisfied.

Check ratings and work history

Before accepting a bid or connecting with a Scout, review their rating, tier badge, and any completed job history. A strong track record is your best signal of reliability.

Be suspicious of requests to move off-platform

If someone pushes you to transact via another app or asks for payment to an unfamiliar account before the job is agreed, treat it as a red flag. Real Scouts are happy to work through the platform.

Only share personal details when you're comfortable

Sharing a phone number for job coordination is normal — but your home address, ID, or financial details should never be requested before a job is properly agreed and underway.

Trust your instincts

If a conversation makes you uncomfortable or something feels off, stop engaging — you're never obligated to continue. For financial fraud, contact your bank or the relevant authorities directly. You can also let us know so we're aware of patterns on the platform.

Common red flags

  • Asking for full payment before starting or without a written agreement
  • Pressure to move the conversation to WhatsApp or Telegram immediately
  • Prices that seem too good to be true — they usually are
  • Requests for your NRIC, bank login, or OTP for any reason
  • New accounts with no ratings, bidding aggressively on high-value jobs
  • Urgency tactics — "pay now or I'll take another job"

What Scout will never do

Scout staff will never message you asking for payment, your password, or personal verification details. Any message claiming to be from Scout that requests this information is a scam — report it immediately.
